As a theater writer and composer, Dylan has been distinguished by the Jonathan Larson Grant (2x Finalist), The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center (NMTC and NPC Semifinalist), Musical Theatre Factory (Makers Cohort III Finalist), New Musicals Inc. (New Voices Project Finalist), Ars Nova (ANT Fest Finalist), The Civilians (R&D Group Semifinalist), The Blank Theatre Company, the National YoungArts Foundation (Finalist in Playwriting), ASCAP, and the Foundation for New American Musicals (MUSI-CAL, SHOWSEARCH Finalist).

He has developed work within the Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project, the IAMA Theatre Emerging Playwrights Lab, the Prospect Musicals Musical Theater Lab, Drama Club Productions (Drama Club Camp & Drama Club Drafts), and The Dive Musical Incubator. His work has been heard at 54 Below, HERE Arts Center, The Rockwell Table & Stage, Symphony Space and other venues.

Dylan has also placed in several television writing contests and has reached audiences of millions with his work as a songwriter for Pixel Playhouse. His work for youth theatre has been produced across the country and internationally via YouthPLAYS. He is currently the librettist on a new musical in development with Oscar and Grammy-winning songwriter Mark Sonnenblick, and a songwriter on a new musical TV series in development with Emmy-winning showrunner Carol Barbee.
